Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former coach his previous coach.
Now working with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in that event earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was over.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved service.
He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.
The opponent saved four initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
